Public meeting on Croke Park 2 to be held at NUIG tonight

A public meeting which will see four trade unions urging a no vote to the Croke Park 2 deal will be held at the IT buildling at NUIG tonight.
The meeting is part of a campaign by the 24/7 Frontline Services Alliance who are increasing its efforts to fight the pay cuts and other cost saving measures in the new Croke Park agreement.
The meetings are to be held in Galway, Letterkenny, Sligo, Limerick, Waterford, Portlaoise, Tralee, and Dublin. The alliance which includes the INMO (Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation), IMO (Irish Medical Organisation), CPSU (Civil Public and Services Union), and the Unite Trade Unions will be holding the meetings to allow frontline emergency staff the opportunity to have their say and vent their anger at the cost-cutting agreement between the Government and other public service unions. They will be calling for a no vote to the deal which they say, if passed, will unfairly penalise workers on lower incomes and women in particular.
According to the alliance a recent publication by financial experts reveals how badly emergency workers will be hit by the deal as they could be cut by as much as 11.4 per cent.
