Galway Advertiser chairman Ronnie O’Gorman is to be among those honoured at civic receptions in City Hall next month.

At Monday’s city council meeting, the Mayor of Galway Terry O’Flaherty announced that she would hold two civic receptions to honour historians and those involved in “musicals, panto, and light opera”.

Ronnie O’Gorman and Tom Kenny, both of whom write columns on Galway history for the Galway Advertiser, along with historians Peadar O’Dowd, William Henry, and James Casserly will be honoured at the event.

There will also be a separate event celebrating the work of the Galway Patrician Musical Society’s Tess Emerson and Renmore Panto’s Joe McCarthy.
