Medtronic workers turn to boxing for Galway Hospice
A special white collar boxing event in aid of the Galway Hospice Foundation takes place tomorrow evening in the Clayton Hotel (Friday March 15).
Organised by Medtronic’s charity of the year committee, tomorrow’s event is Medtronic’s largest of the year in helping their charity of choice.
Fourteen employees have been in training with Galway kickboxing exponent Ken Horan for the past 10 weeks in preparation for the event. One of those workers, Owen Flatley, is a former kickboxing champion.
Well-known Galway personality and former Galway hurler Joe Connolly will be Master of Cermonies on the night which gets under way at 7.30pm.
In addition to the action in the ring, a host of raffles will be held on the night with all proceeds donated to the hospice. Prizes include a one-year membership to Active Fitness Gym; Two-night stay at Cavan Crystal Hotel; Return flights for two to the Aran Islands, Spirit One Spa package; Golf and lunch at Glenlo Abbey; Dinner and movie at the G Hotel; and vouchers for Moran’s Oyster Cottage, The Cellar Bar, One 4 All; and dinner in the Oyster Grill.
The event is restricted to those over 18.
