McDonoghs to relaunch Stanley Centre in Ballybane

McDonoghs in Ballybane Industrial Estate is launching its newly revamped Stanley Centre this week. To celebrate, special promotions and expert advice on installation, building energy ratings, and low energy heating systems will be available in store from Thursday November 15 to Saturday November 17.

With fuel prices up 11 per cent in just the last 12 months and harsh Irish winters predicted, households are being forced to find ways to lower their energy costs without impacting on the warmth and energy in their homes.

According to independent heating and energy expert, Seamus Brennan, stoves are up to three times more efficient than open fires: "Open fires are wasteful of energy with only 20-30 per cent of the heat from the fuel remaining in the room, while a stove retains up to 80 per cent of heat in the room. Replacing an open fire with an efficient stove can reduce the household energy consumption by eight to 10 per cent."

Speaking about the relaunch, Brendan Maher, store manager at McDonoghs said: "Our customers want real value for their money. We've seen a notable trend emerging where people are switching from an open fire to a stove to help reduce their fuel bills."

Mr Maher added, “As part of our re-launch this week we'll have heating consultants in-store on the three days of the promotion to help answer questions on how to reduce energy bills and keep homes warm this winter. We're also giving away a stove and fuel to the value of €500."
