New play to chart life of Gráinne Mhaol

Galway Advertiser, October 25, 2012.

By Kernan Andrews

GRÁINNE MHAOL, the 16th century Irish pirate queen and clan leader, will be the subject of a new play by ALâ Community Theatre.

Gráinne Mhaol and the Pages of History will premier in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Wednesday November 28 at 8pm. The show will focus on her challenging and manipulating the turbulent politics of the 16th century and breaching boundaries of gender imbalance and bias.

ALâ is also appealing to the people of Galway to support its Fund It campaign in which the company hopes to raise €3,000 towards the production. Those who wish to donate can do so via www.fundit.ie/project/grainne-mhaol-and-the-pages-of-history
