Autumn Garden Seminar at Claregalway Castle

Garden lovers will be treated to an intimate gathering of some of the country’s top experts at the Autumn Garden Seminar to be held this Saturday at Claregalway Castle.

The event offers an intimate gathering for up to 50 people with four great speakers and a few specialist nursery groups and includes refreshments and lunch served in a singular garden networking environment.

Irish Seedsavers will present on how to create an orchard that blooms and produces eight months of the year using old Irish stock - some of which they have saved from extinction - and will also talk on grants, pressing for juices and providing winter sustenance for birds.

Klaus Laitenberger will review a range of possibilities for urban and rural organic gardening with an emphasis on sustainable living

Dr Muriel McCarthy keeper of Marshes Library in Dublin has a wonderful presentation on the riches of the library in terms of european and Irish botanical manuscripts from late medieval period to recent times.

The well known arborist and writer Thomas Pakenham (Meetings with Remarkable Trees ) will discuss a range of topics relating to creating and maintaining a variety of gardens - drawing from great and small gardens

from all over the planet.
