FYI Galway shortlisted in national radio awards

Galway Bay fm’s evening news programme FYI Galway has been shortlisted as Best News Programme in the PPI national radio awards.

The weekday evening news programme is one of five finalists selected by the judging panel and Galway Bay fm is the only local radio station to make the shortlist in the category.

FYI Galway will compete with RTE’s Morning Ireland, RTE’s This Week, Newstalk’s Lunchtime News and Today fm’s National Lunchtime News.

FYI Galway was introduced in March this year as part of a new programming schedule on Galway Bay fm and airs from 5pm to 6pm each weekday. It comprises a mix of live news, interviews and analysis on the day's local, national and international news and sport, as well as traffic and business information.

The overall winner will be announced at a gala awards ceremony to be held at Lyrath House Hotel in Kilkenny next month (October 12 ).

The PPI awards are now in their twelfth year and aim to acknowledge the contribution of writers, broadcasters, producers, reporters, presenters, and technicians in informing, educating and entertaining radio listeners throughout the island of Ireland.
