Brosnan takes down French opponent

Galway kickboxing club world champion Brian Brosnan overcame previously unbeaten French fighter Oliver Larrigue at a special fight night promoted by both Corrib Kickboxing Club and Castlegar Mui Thai.

Brosnan beat his French opponent with ease, after giving him two standing eight-counts in the first main event of the evening.

Corrib Kickboxing Club’s Dave Short came up against Ziggie Ette from Shannon for the junior light welterweight title. Short dropped Ettes in the first round before going on to claim the title.

The final main event saw Martin Conroy of Castlegar Mui Thai take Gregory Olick. Conroy fought a tough fight giving the Polish champ a standing count in second to claim the honours.

In other kickboxing action Oughterard fighter Bryan "Mayhem" Merrigan, who fights out of the Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Club, will attempt to add the All Ireland K-1 Title to his CV on June 30 in the Menlo Park Hotel, Galway, when he takes on tough Noresider Tomas Trajkovski from the Top-Pro gym in Kilkenny.

Merrigan and Trajkovski will headline the exciting fightcard entitled "Mayhem In The Menlo" which will also feature several Irish and Five Nations champions in action, as well as a host of upcoming talent from the Black Dragon camp.
