Register for O’Donnellan & Joyce’s sunshine auction

O’Donnellan & Joyce will hold the last of its summer auctions for this year on July 20 at 3pm in the Victoria Hotel, Eyre Square, Galway.

The company is calling this major property auction a sunshine auction, and according to Colm O’Donnellan this will be the last opportunity to place your property on the market with O’Donnellan & Joyce until the next autumn auction.

O’Donnellan & Joyce’s recent auctions have been packed to capacity and in its last auction on July 20, 15 of the properties were sold out of 17, showing that there is a tremendous appetite for buyers with cash or access to finance to acquire property at what is perceived to be incredible value. The agents are receiving a large number of enquiries from cash customers and clients overseas looking for traditional and established locations throughout the city. Once vendors are realistic with their values there is no shortage of buyers currently in the market.

O’Donnellan & Joyce’s auctions are among the most successful in the country — last year the company sold 74 of 79 houses, this year O’Donnellan & Joyce anticipates that it will increase on this number. Sellers in general consider auction as an excellent way to dispose of properties, especially in this difficult market. O’Donnellan & Joyce appraises each property that is going into the auction room and each valuation is accessed in order to attract buyers. An extensive marketing campaign is held for five weeks prior to the auction, the properties are shown by way of open viewings twice a week or by private viewing. No stone is left unturned to get as many people through the properties as possible. The properties are extensively advertised through the local media and on Daft and the company website. The auctions are held in the Victoria Hotel, Eyre Square, Galway, and there are large screens throughout the hotel to accommodate viewings for the large crowd that normally attend, along with refreshments. The day of the auction is not just a day of high drama, it is also a social event with the serious business of buying and selling property, the auction is conducted in a fast and furious manner and each sale can last between five and 10 minutes.

What is great about an auction is that once the hammer falls at a price that the owner is satisfied with, the sale is concluded. The sale is unconditional and the purchasers must have all their homework done prior to the auction.

O’Donnellan & Joyce is finalising its extensive list for this sunshine auction.
