Galway firms contribute to environmental sustainability

Two Galway companies have been commended at this year’s annual Small Firms Association Awards.

Langan Couriers and Mayday Express, both Galway members for The Pallet Network, were awarded highly commended in the environmental sustainability category at this year’s awards.

Certificates of commendation were presented to TPN by the Minister of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton.

The Pallet Network is one of Ireland’s leading freight, transport and logistics services providers.

Langan Couriers, based in Oranmore, was founded by John McGann 15 years ago and is based in a 44,000sq ft warehouse with a client base of more than 140.

John McGann, principal of Langan Couriers, said: “Despite the continuing economic downturn, we have focused on becoming as lean as possible, cutting costs while maintaining services.”

Mayday Express, also based in Galway, is one of the 23 regional national network carriers for TPN.

The aim of the SFA National Small Business Awards is to celebrate the achievements of small businesses (with up to 50 employees ) in Ireland, and to recognise the vital contribution of the small business sector to the Irish economy.
