€5,000 spring bonus off new Nissan Leaf
Nissan is inviting people to spring into action with its Leaf all-electric car, and has launched an enticing new promotion which should grab the attention of anyone who is interested in getting good old-fashioned value for money.
For a limited period, Nissan is offering an extra €5,000 spring bonus off the all-electric (no oil, no emissions, no exhaust) Nissan Leaf. What this means is that customers can now drive away in a new 100 per cent electric Nissan Leaf for €25,595.
Nissan says this latest offer adds a further dimension to the value for money the Nissan Leaf represents. Its marketing people say the average running costs for the car are coming in at one cent per kilometre (calculated using night saver electricity rates), which is remarkable when compared with 10 cent per kilometre for an average diesel car and eight cent per kilometre for an average petrol car.
For comparison purposes Nissan used pricing from www.pumps.ie for diesel car running costs, based on a 1.5 litre diesel car returning a combined fuel consumption of 5.2 litres per 100km and petrol car running costs are based on a 1.6 litre petrol car returning a combined fuel consumption of 5.9 litres per 100km
At these rates anyone covering 20,000 kilometres in a year can expect to save up to €1,800 in the annual running costs for their car.
And the savings do not stop there. As the Leaf has no C02 emissions – annual road tax is at the lowest level of €160 - and with few serviceable items on the car, owners can expect to save up to 50 per cent on annual servicing and maintenance costs.
In short, a Nissan spokesperson bullishly says: “The Nissan Leaf represents excellent value for money on all fronts and with savings like these anyone in the market for a new car today cannot afford to ignore the 100 per cent electric Nissan Leaf."
