The Atlantic Pirates charity gig @ Town Hall

THE ATLANTIC Pirates, the folk group which entertains the public every day on Shop Street with their renditions of Irish folk songs play a charity gig this Easter Weekend.

The Pirates - James Gallagher, Wayne Wilder, Stephen Dunne, and Iven Markquard - play the Town Hall Theatre on Saturday at 8pm in aid of Croí, the West of Ireland Cardiac Foundation.

The band was formed by singer/banjo player James Gallagher and guitarist Wayne Wilder. A chance encounter led them to meet Stephen Dunne, son of the reknowed Irish folk singer the Pecker Dunne. The final piece of the band came in the form of German Iven Markquard, who encountered the band while holidaying in Galway and decided to stay.

Tickets cost €20 and are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie with all proceeds in aid of Croí.
