Auld Ireland through a Swedish lens

TWENTY PHOTOGRAPHS taken by Swedish photographers in the early 20th century are on display at NUI Galway’s James Hardiman Library.

Trí Lionsa Sualannach/Through a Swedish Lens, featuring photographs by Albert Eskeröd, Carl von Sydow, Harriet Wetterström, and Äke Campbell portray Irish people at work and play and give a window into the lives and homes of a bygone Ireland.

The photographs are on loan from the National Folklore Collection, UCD. The exhibition is located in the foyer of the James Hardiman Library and continues until Friday April 27.
