Nolan in bid to become Labour Party chair

Labour’s Galway West Derek Nolan has been nominated to contest the position of chair of the Labour Party at the forthcoming National Conference in April.

Launching his campaign, Dep Nolan outlined his four priorities - maintaining and promoting open communication, engagement and discussion with party members and sections, both in terms of policy and organisation; ensuring a strong organisation in the run up to the local and EU elections; attracting more young people to join the party; ensuring that conferences fully debate policy decisions and allows delegates adequate speaking time.

“I believe my experience of campaigning and fighting elections in Galway West will be vital to the role,” said Dep Nolan. “I have been a member of the Labour Party since I was 19 and most recently was director of Michael D Higgins’ presidential campaign in Galway, which garnered the highest vote in the country.”
