Playwright to launch debut novel

MICK DONNELLAN, the playwright behind Sunday Morning Coming Down and Shortcut to Halleljuah, is about to launch his debut novel.

Donneallan’s debut novel, El Niño, published by Original Writing, will be launched in The Galway Arms, Dominick Street, on Tuesday February 28 at 7pm.

El Niño is a crime novel set in Ballinrobe and Galway. It centres on Charlie, a pick-pocket, who falls in love with a girl by the curious name of El Niño. He knows he should not be getting involved, but he can not resist. He is a recovering alcoholic and needs to stay away from the pubs. She likes to drink hard and live life to the full.

Their relationship takes flight and is full of passion and possibility, but Charlie’s demons come back to haunt him in the form of PJ, a member of an old crime gang he used to work with, and the consequences may be devastating for all involved.

All are welcome to the launch. For more information see http://originalwriting.ie/bookshop/fiction/general-fiction/el-nino/
