COPE says thanks to Galway
I would appreciate some space in your paper to thank the people of Galway for the wonderful support that they have given COPE Galway over the past year. Without the ongoing and generous support of the Galway community, COPE Galway would not be able to continue to provide our vital services which are so much needed at this time.
I want to say a big thank you to all those who supported us over the Christmas period by taking part in our many events, by organising their own events, or by donating to our various collections.
I would like to thank the students from St Ignatius (the Jes) school who did a Sleep Out to raise funds for our services on December 23. It is very heartening to see young people doing something to help those less fortunate than themselves.
To all those who participated in our Christmas Day Swim and helped set the record for the most people swimming in a Santa hat, thank you, you helped make the 22nd annual swim one our most successful swims ever, and it raised over €35,000 so far. The generosity of the Galway public never ceases to amaze me even at a time when we are all suffering hardship.
And finally, thanks so much to yourself the editor for the kind support of your publication throughout the year.
Wishing the people of Galway a happy and peaceful 2012.
PS: If anyone still has sponsorship money to return they can drop it into our offices on the Tuam Road or post it to 2-5 Calbro House, Tuam Road, Galway.
