Metal gig in Richardson’s

DUBLIN METAL band Zom will make their Galway debut when they play Richardson’s, Eyre Square, this Saturday at 8.30pm as part of a four band metal and hardcore show.

Zom have created a stir in the Irish metal community since playing their first gigs earlier this year. The band’s demo recording has also proved popular and what few copies there were have already been snapped up by eager fans.

The website www.cvltnation.com has described the band as “a revelation” which “places emphasis on creating a dark and primitive atmosphere rather than simply realigning stolen riffs from their favourite albums”.

Also playing is Galway metal band Rites - Kieran Griffin (guitar ), Nicola Cosgrove (bass ), Bryan Higgins (guitar ), and Rory Mooney (drums ) - whose Sabbath styled doom metal has been praised by cvltnation.com as essential listening “if you have even the slightest interest in heavy sounds”.

Their self-titled debut mini-album is also available as a free download on Bandcamp through ritesgalway.bandcamp.com Support comes from Cork band Bisect, also making their Galway debut, and Swine, who play old skool hardcore. Admission is €5.
