Award winning Danish songwriter for Róisín Dubh

AGNES OBEL, the acclaimed Danish singer-songwriter, is coming to Galway to play the Róisín Dubh on Friday December 9 at 8pm.

Agnes released her debut album Philharmonics last year to critical and commercial success. The Guardian called her “a master of her craft”; the BBC’s James Skinner said her “slow, sombre, sepulchral” songs have “singular beauty”; while French cultural magazine Les Inrockuptibles said: “There is, in these deeply melancholic ballads, the clearness and reassuring nobility of bedside discs.”

To get a sense of her haunting music, look up the videos to ‘Riverside’ and new single ‘Brother Sparrow’ on YouTube.

Last weekend Agnes swept all before her in the Danish Music Awards, winning Album Of The Year, Best Pop Release Of The Year, Debut Artist Of The Year, Best Female Artist Of The Year, Songwriter Of The Year.

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and www.roisindubh.net
