Galway writer shortlisted for major poetry award

Galway based author Tom Duddy has been shortlisted for the prestigious Aldeburgh First Collection Award and is the only Irish writer to make the list.

Mr Duddy has been nominated for his debut poetry collection, The Hiding Place, which was recently published by Arlen House. He is one of five potential recipients of the prize, from an original long list of 74.

The Aldeburgh First Collection Prize is one of the most influential and established poetry prizes in Britain and comes with a cash prize of £1,000, a week on the Suffolk coast to do some writing, and a fee-paying invitation to read at the 2012 Aldeburgh Poetry Festival.

The Hiding Place is available from www.Kennys.ie, syracuseuniversitypress.syr.edu, and amazon.com
