RITA ANN Higgins’s latest collection of poetry, entitled Ireland Is Changing Mother, will be launched in Galway on Friday September 16.
The new collection, featuring 41 poems and published by Bloodaxe Books, will be launched by comedian Tommy Tiernan in the Galway Arts Centre.
Ireland Is Changing Mother chronicles lives in contemporary Ireland as lived before, during, and after the economic collapse. Poems such as ‘The Builder’s Mess’ and ‘TD on Local Radio re Expenses’ mix satire, humour, social commentary, and personal insight.
As Paul Durcan has said of her work: “Rita Ann Higgins means a unique line in human warmth; and a unique colour of humour and a unique clarity.”
