GALWAY THEATRE companies - Waterdonkey and Side-Show Productions have been selected to perform in the ABSOLUT Fringe in Dublin in September.
At the ABSOLUT Fringe Waterdonkey Theatre Company will present Happening, a 12-hour performance loosely inspired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s bed-in for peace at the Amsterdam Hilton in 1969.
Happening takes place at the Gresham Hotel, O’Connell Street, from 10am to 10pm on Sunday September 11.
Side-Show Productions will present Dreams of Love, in which two men and a woman are locked in a revolving love triangle, forced to exhaust the spectacle of love and see what survives. It will run in the Smock Alley Theatre from Tuesday September 20 to Saturday 24 at 8.30pm. Both productions were developed in Galway.
Both companies need to raise funds in advance of taking part in the festival and so they will jointly hold a night of fun, music, and events entitled Games, Wagers & Theatricks, upstairs at Monroe’s on Tuesday at 7.30pm.
There will be theatrical performances from Side-Show and Waterdonkey; live music from Dónal McConnon & Anna Mullarkey and Miriam O’Donoghue; and fun events such as placing bets on the outcome of contests of balloon blowing, paper aeroplane throwing, and miniature horse racing.
Entry is just €5 and there will also be prizes up for grabs.
