Henry McCullough to bring the blues to The Crane

HENRY MCCULLOUGH, the County Antrim blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, has a list of achievements in rock’n’roll that would be the envy of any musician.

He is the only Irishman to have played Woodstock, when he was part of Joe Cocker’s Grease Band, who went down in legend for their extraordinary reinterpretation of The Beatles’ ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ at that festival.

Later he formed part of the original line up of Wings, the band Paul McCartney formed after quitting The Beatles in 1970. Henry appears on Wings’ early albums and singles and that’s him playing the guitar solo on Paul’s ode to Linda, the 1973 hit single ‘My Love’.

In more recent years Henry has developed a solo career that has seen the Ulsterman return to his roots in the blues, releasing a number of solo albums, touring regularly, and playing blues festivals in Ireland and abroad.

Galway will be able to enjoy the sounds and songs of this Irish blues legend when he plays The Crane Bar, Sea Road, on Thursday August 18 at 9pm.

Tickets are €15/12.50 from The Crane on 091 - 587419 or see www.thecranebar.com See also www.henrymccullough.com
