Free trout fishing lessons at Renvyle House
Trout fly fishing European cup champion 2011 and Hardy and Grey’s fly-fishing instructor Jackie Coyne will be at Renvyle House twice a week to give free fly-fishing classes to all of its guests. This is just one of the many free activities that are available to guests and families staying at the hotel this summer.
Renvyle House Hotel is located on the shores of the Atlantic and is situated on 200 acres which include a private lake at the front door, a beach at the back door, a nine-hole (par 3) golf course, and numerous leisure activities which are free to all guests of the hotel. John McKenna describes it in the Bridgestone 100 Best Places to Stay in Ireland 2011 as ‘magic’ and says that ‘Ronnie Counihan and chef Tim O’Sullivan run one of Ireland’s best destinations, out there on the westerly shores”.
The historic hotel has been looking after guests since 1883 and Counihan and his team continue this great tradition of Irish hospitality. “Our summer breaks are great value” says Zoe Fitzgerald, marketing manager. “All on-site activities, classes, kids club and entertainment are all free to our hotel guests as well as the acres of leisure facilities on site, there are no hidden extras. In addition, we have reduced our summer rates by being able to pass on the VAT reduction, which is great news.”
Renvyle House has a notable reputation for hospitality and great food and is a relaxing place to take a holiday. Other activities being run at the hotel this summer include a daily kids club, tennis tournaments, a weekly scubadive lesson in the outdoor heated pool and golf competitions. Tegolins Tales Theatre Group will host a drama workshop evening and a storytelling evening for children each week. Adults can enjoy evening entertainment in the bar most nights. At Renvyle House, the only stress is on relaxation.
