Naughton demands Dominick Street works be completed in four weeks

The road closure on Dominick Street must be reduced from a six week timeframe to just four so that local businesses are not further inconvenienced than at present.

This is the view of Fine Gael councillor Hildegarde Naughton, who made this call to the Galway City Council following meetings with Dominick Street businesses.

Lower Dominick Street has been closed to traffic since Tuesday and will remain so for the next six weeks in order to facilitate extensive sewerage improvement works.

All businesses will remain open throughout the construction period, although as Cllr Naughton points out, they will be seriously inconvenienced as a result of the closure. As a result she is asking to council to see if the works can be completed in a shorter timeframe.
