Kilkenny hurling legend DJ Carey believes he has signed for another winning team after he joined leading hygiene product distributor, Western Hygiene Supplies Ltd, earlier this week.

The five-time All Ireland champion has teamed up with the Irish-owned company following its acquisition of his own distribution business last month.

Mr Carey has joined the company along with the rest of his team from DJ Carey Enterprises Ltd as Western Hygiene Supplies expands its distribution network for superior-branded hygiene products nationwide.

Clients of his distribution firm have joined the ranks of more than 11,000 loyal customers across the country whose requirements are currently catered for on a daily basis by Western Hygiene Supplies Ltd.

Kevin Collins, managing director of the company, said the addition of DJ Carey and his team was an exciting development for the business, which is continuing to grow in spite of the economic downturn.

“DJ has been no stranger to success during his illustrious career and I have no doubt that that is set to continue now that he has joined us at Western Hygiene Supplies,” he said.

“We are delighted to welcome him and his team on board – it’s a very positive step for our business – and we are pleased that the acquisition took place in a manner by which we could protect existing jobs.”

DJ Carey won five All-Ireland titles with Kilkenny, 10 Leinster titles and four National Hurling Leagues during a spectacular career that spanned 15 years at inter-county level. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest hurlers of all time.

The acquisition is a major coup for Western Hygiene Supplies, which has operated successfully for more than 23 years, supplying customers in the hotel and catering, industrial, administrative and healthcare sectors.

The hygiene product supplier now offers its clients guaranteed next-day delivery to all 32 counties through its expansive distribution network and a flexible, state-of-the-art ordering system that can be accessed by email, text, phone or a team of dedicated sales representatives.

Western Hygiene Supplies is located in Curry, Cummer,Tuam and employs 32 full time staff.
