Three men in court following city car thefts

Three men are due in court again tomorrow charged in relation to the theft of vehicles during burglaries in two areas of the city.

Martin Burke (29 ) of 96 Castlepark, Ballybane, and Adrian Walsh (29 ) of Fairgreen Hostel, were first brought before Harristown District Court last Friday, February 11, charged with burglary and the unauthorised taking of a mechanically propelled vehicle. They were remanded in custody to appear before the same court tomorrow, Friday, February 18.

It is alleged that a burglary took place at Sandyvale Lawn, Headford Road, at 12.30am on February 11, and a car was stolen. Following a short chase, involving the regional support unit based in Salthill, the car was intercepted in Inverin. The two men were detained at Galway Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Meanwhile, Gary Feeney (19 ) of 54 Carn Ard, Circular Road, is also due before Harristown District Court tomorrow. He had been brought before Spiddal District Court on February 10 charged with burglary at Dun na Corribe, Headford Road. It is alleged that at 2.30am on Thursday, February 10, a car was taken at the scene of a burglary and the offender was apprehended and arrested at Westside
