TULCA appoints new curator

GALWAY ARTIST Megs Morley has been appointed as the curator of the TULCA 2011 visual arts festival, which will take place from November 4 to 20.

Ms Morley recently curated the documentation archive of the DORM exhibition (the Model, Sligo ) where she curated archive materials, documents, works, and film screenings of 23 international artists collectives including the Atlas Group, Cobra, and the Situationists.

She initiated the Irish Artist-led Archive, an archive and touring exhibition of documentation relating to more than 70 past and present Irish artist-led initiatives, currently housed in the special collections of the National Irish Visual Arts Library.

From 2008 to 2010 she worked as the public arts officer for the Galway City Council where she commissioned a series of significant multi-disciplinary and participatory public art projects across the city.

TULCA will open its call for submissions in the summer and full programme details will be announced in October. TULCA has also announced that Siobhán McGibbon, representing the 126 gallery, and Ann Lyons, representing NUI Galway, have recently joined the board of directors.
