Croi Cabaret comes to the Galway Shopping Centre this Sunday

ONE of the highlights of the Galway fundraising scene every festive season is the Croi Cabaret and Fundraising Extravaganza which entertains hundreds and this weekend it is coming to the people when it is staged the Galway Shopping Centre, Headford Road.

The event organised and produced by Mary A Cunnin gham, will run from 12.00 and 8.00 p.m, for a feast of music, song, dance, carol singing, Irish step-dancing, sean-nos dancing, jazz music, traditional music, etc. in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of this super shopping centre.

On the day, musicians, singers, dancers, and choirs, will participate at various times. The choirs will, of course, sing carols, traditional and new, while the musicians, dancers and singers will create a really festive, lively, merry atmosphere.

Among the many people taking part will be Marc Roberts, the very popular Galway Bay FM presenter/Eurovison song contest finalist and the multi-award winning Tribal Chamber Choir, with Mark Keane. Keith McDonald, who performed at the Volvo Ocean Race, will also be taking part, as will the choir of the Church of Christ the King, Salthill, Galway, under the baton of Sr. Breda, and musical director, Mark Keane.Other acts include the Guinness jazz band; Matt Keane; singer Lorna Jordan, NUIG student and winner of last year’s talent competition in the Eyre Square Shopping Centre; musicians James Donohue and friends; singer Aidan Breen, NUIG student; musicians Johnny Ringo McDonagh, Conor McCague and Ronan O’Flaherty; the Cameron school of Irish Dance; musicians Johnny Connolly, Johnny Og, and Mattie Flaherty. Louise Potter and some of her student’s dance technics will also be taking part. They won the CU Factor talent show, held in the Town Hall Theatre, Galway, last May, and were also runners-up on the TG4 Las Vegas show earlier this year. They specialise in rock-and-roll routines to well-known songs from the 60s.These acts are all coming along on the day, giving up their time, voluntarily, for Croi - this very worthy, local cause.

On the day also there will be: Santa Claus, Superbunny, face painting, sale of Croi Christmas cards; 10 fabulous christmas cards, beautifully presented, and at a recession-friendly €5.95. There will be a monster raffle, with hotel breaks, monster hampers, vouchers, etc. On sale also will be Mark Keane’s Tribal Chamber Choir’s new CD: Carols from Galway, with all proceeds from the sale of this disc, on the day, to Croi (the West of Ireland cardiac foundation ).
