Biodiversity Family Day at Coole Park

Coole Park will host an afternoon of nature-themed events for children and families later this month as part of the Galway programme of events to mark Heritage Week.

The Coole event, organised by the People and Nature Project, will feature nature walks and other activities from 1pm to 6pm on Sunday August 24.

Dolores Keegan will demonstrate how to make some simple bird and bat boxes for the garden. At 3pm the Biodiversity Puppet Show will be presented by Your Man’s Puppets, which has been touring the schools of Galway over the last year. The show tells the tale of two migratory ducks who fly into Ireland every summer, and about the adventures that they have in our changing countryside.

Entry to the biodiversity family day is free of charge and all are welcome.

Coole Park lies just to the north of Gort, and there is plenty of parking on site. For more information on the event contact the Coole Park Visitors’ Centre at (091 ) 631804, visit www.coolepark.ie, phone Nick Marchant at (091 ) 493863, or e-mail [email protected]

The event has been organised jointly by the People and Nature Project of Galway County and the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
