Be made up and made over by COPE

COPE Galway have launched their ‘Make a Star’ 2010 makeover fundraising extravaganza, which will take place in the Galway Bay Hotel on Sunday, 3rd October.

Speaking at the launch last niht (Wednesday ), Maura Derrane, COPE Galway’s patron, said, “Make A Star is the perfect excuse for women to get glammed up and at the same time help those in Galway suffering from isolation.”

Over the past five years this popular event has become a top fashion and social occasion of the year in Galway, not least because of the exciting makeovers which are revealed on the night. Twenty women get the opportunity to have a professional makeover and go on that evening to become runway stars. Galway’s top hair and beauty professionals will give each participant a complete hair and beauty makeover in their salons during the week leading up to the event and each ‘Make a Star’ model will then be paired up with shopping professionals from top Galway boutiques who will match them with a flattering outfit to model on the evening.

Mandy Maher of Catwalk Model Agency will also work with each of the ‘Make a Star’ participants to ensure they release the supermodel within, as they walk down the runway at the fashion show.

Fintan Maher of COPE Galway said, “This is a great opportunity for all women to either get themselves pampered for a day or better still to nominate someone else to receive the star treatment”. If you are interested in participating yourself, or want to give your mum, daughter or a friend a day to remember, all you have to do is raise €500 to support the work of COPE Galway.

All proceeds raised are used by COPE Galway in our community to provide targeted services including a refuge for women and children affected by domestic violence, accommodation for homeless people and sustenance and social supports for older people at home.
