Nolan welcomes council takeover of three east side estates

Residents in three east side estates will be able to contact the Galway City Council about maintenance for their area now that the council has taken the neighbourhoods in charge.

At Monday’s city council meeting, councillors voted to approve the council taking in charge Sceilg Ard, Tur Uisce, and An Fiodan. Ashbrook on the Tuam Road is scheduled to be taken in charge later this year.

Labour councillor Derek Nolan has welcomed the taking in charge.

“Residents in these estates will be able to contact the city council concerning issues such as roads, public lighting, and public services,” he aid. “These areas will be included in road maintenance programmes and drainage management for example. It is important these vital services are planned for and carried out.”
