New era as Anthony Ryan’s opens new menswear store at Eyre Square Centre

A family owned business, which celebrated its centenary last year, will open a new menswear store at the Eyre Square Centre today (Thursday ).

Anthony Ryan’s has joined forces with Ireland’s number one menswear brand Remus Uomo to open the brand’s first flagship store in Ireland.

It will open to the public at 6pm with special opening discounts from that day through to Saturday March 20.

The new store will create five new jobs bringing the total number employed by the Anthony Ryan group to 135, including part-time and seasonal workers. A family owned business the group comprises Anthony Ryan’s, Shop Street, Anthony Ryan’s Homestore and La Femme by Ryan in Eglinton Street.

Targeted at males from their early 20s to late 30s Remus Uomo is the biggest selling independent menswear brand in Ireland and is distributed in the UK and Ireland by Douglas & Grahame. It has four stand alone stores in Northern Ireland and opened its first Scottish store in Glasgow last year.

Anthony Ryan, proprietor of Anthony Ryan’s, says the Remus Uomo brand offers affordable wardrobe must-haves for today’s man.

“It’s an exciting bang on trend brand renowned for its world-class, Italian-styled suiting, functional casual wear, attention to detail and outstanding quality fabrics. Furthermore, it is pitched at the right price point with prices for suits ranging from €229 to €329, jackets from €159 to €199, shirts from €39.99 to €79.99 and trousers and jeans from €45 to €90.”

Simon Anderson, retail operations manager for Remus Uomo UK and Ireland, says it is “extremely excited” about opening this new store.

“Galway is a vibrant shopping centre with a fashion conscious customer base. So, we are sure that the new Remus Uomo store will do well here. The new store will also showcase our latest sleek shop-fit with the standard of finish that will be one of the most impressive in Ireland.”

TV personality Hector Ó hEochagáin will launch the new store. He will be joined by Apprentice star Breffny Morgan, new Galway United manager Sean Connor, hurling hero Joe Canning and a host of leading west of Ireland sports and business personalities for an exciting fashion event and launch party.

The winner of the west’s sexiest man title will be announced at the opening. He will be chosen by public vote on the iWork with Dave show from 12.45 to 4pm. He will be presented with his prize of an all expenses paid trip to the Italian Grand Prix in Milan.

Anthony Ryan’s was established in 1909 when Anthony Ryan and his wife Katherine set up a family drapery store on Shop Street.
