Is The Da Vinci Code a cod?

NO DOUBT there are people out there who really believe that Jesus’ descendants were running around the south of France for centuries and that the Illuminati are in control of everything.

Dan Browne’s best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction but used real people, events, artworks, and locations to create the story of about Prof Robert Langdon and his quest to uncover mysteries at heart of Christianity.

The ideas in The Da Vinci Code, themselves borrowed from the controversial book Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, that Jesus was married, had children, and that this knowledge was kept secret by conspiratorial groups is fascinating, but is it credible? Is it in any way true?

The claims and ideas in The Da Vinci Code will be the subject of Holy Grails, Secret Codes and our fascination with the improbable, the next lecture of the Renmore History Society on Thursday January 14. The lecture will be given by Brian MacGabhann.

The lecture takes place in the Renmore Barracks. There is a cover charge of €5 for the talk, or €10 for the season. Either can be paid on the night. Places are limited so booking is essential. To book contact Brian on 085 - 729 8831 or e-mail [email protected]
