Public consultation on anti-racism strategy takes place next week

Phase two of the Galway City Anti Racism Strategy – Towards a City of Equals is being drafted and consultations with the public will be held throughout next weekend.

Phase two will address the issues of racism, interculturalism, and integration in Galway city. The strategy will be based on an intercultural approach and an understanding of mutual respect and common basic values for all in the city.

Consultations with the public will take place on Thursday October 29 on Shop Street from 11am to 3pm and in the Headford Road Shopping Centre from 2pm to 5pm; on Friday 30 in Shop Street and Eyre Square from 11am to 5pm and in the Headford Road Shopping Centre from 2pm to 5pm; on Saturday 31 at the outdoor market from 9am to 3pm; and on Sunday November 1 on the Salthill Prom from 11am to 3pm.

The anti racism working group welcomes submissions from individuals and organisations in the city that wish to contribute to the strategy. The closing date for submissions is October 31. For more information see www.gcp.ie/CommunityDevelopment/AntiRacismStrategy htm
