A tradition lives on

A local company - which successfully married the traditional and contemporary to create a celebrated organic seaweed based bodycare range - is set to launch three new products in September.

Seavite is one of Galway’s success stories set up in 1993 by Patrick and Kaye Mulrooney. It is a 100 per cent Irish owned family run business. Its medical directors are the Mulrooneys daughters, doctors Jane and Katherine, who are specialists in dermatology. They have researched and developed all Seavite’s products while their brother James, an actuary, is the company’s financial director.

The development of this range has a strong human aspect. Patrick was a scientist who specialised in the uses of seaweed, particularly its therapeutic benefits. After years of intensive research he developed the formulation for the first product, Seavite Organic Seaweed Bath and Shower Gel.

There are 12 products in the range with a further three new ones to be launched in September.

Seavite is now an established brand name and the image is consistent with the finest natural ingredients and premium quality seaweeds.

Seaweed has long been hailed for its therapeutic properties. People have bathed in it for centuries. Scientific studies confirm it helps lower body stress and relieves dry skin conditions. It is also good for treating muscle aches and joint stiffness.

If the idea of having a seaweed bath does not appeal to you, you can opt instead to enjoy the benefit of this age-old natural treasure in the comfort of your home thanks to Seavite. Its products are suitable for the most sensitive skin types and skin conditions such as atopic eczema and dermatitis. Psorsiasis, rosacea and acne also benefit from its use.

Seavite products are available throughout Ireland in Debenhams, pharmacies and health stores.
