Free range eggs firm reassures customers

Galway Free Range Eggs has moved to reassure consumers of the quality of its product following the news that a businessman who runs an unrelated firm is facing fraud charges in the UK over the distribution of eggs falsely labelled as free range or organic.

“All of the eggs produced by Galway Free Range Eggs are free range and my team and I personally ensure that the quality of our produce meets the highest standards possible for egg production,” said Kevin Towey, managing director of Galway Free Range Eggs. “I would like to reassure our customers that when they purchase our eggs, they are getting a truly quality product.

:All of our eggs come from local Galway farms and are traceable right back to the individual producer who has achieved the highest standards of production excellence,” he added. “As a result of our stringent adherence to our quality standards, Galway Free Range Eggs were the first free range egg producer in Ireland to receive the Bord Bia Quality Mark.

“Galway Free Range Eggs come from farms, produced by people who care. All of our farmers have participated in Teagasc education and training programmes to ensure they have the management skills to care for their flocks. Hygiene, animal welfare, and food safety are our major priorities.”

Galway Free Range Eggs was established in Cregmore, Claregalway in 1992, and has grown to become the leading supplier of free range eggs in the west of Ireland. The company currently employs 11 people locally.
