Fas applies for major changes to Mervue premises

Under-fire training agency FAS have is showing no ill-effects of the government cutback with an application this week to carry out major development works at its premises in Mervue.

The agency which has come into the national spotlight in recent weks because of its massive funding has applied to the Galway City Council this week for changes to its local headquarters.

Fas seeking permission for the demolition of single storey extension to South West side of units 105 to 108 at the Mervue Business and Technology Park.

This will involve the construction of new single storey extension consisting of electrical and plumbing storage, electrical classroom and laboratory, manager's office and plumbing / gas storage yard to south west side of units 105 to 108, and internal reconfiguration of existing training workshops.

It will also include a two storey extension to the south east end of Unit 105 consisting of administration offices, classrooms, plant room and proposed signage to the building facade. There will also be new elevational treatment to existing main training centre and alterations to the existing car park and retaining wall bounding onto Connolly Avenue.
