The crossroads leading Máirtín O’Connor to the Town Hall

MÁIRTÍN O’CONNOR, one of Ireland’s finest accordion players and one of Irish trad’s most fertile and creative minds, will play the Town Hall on Monday May 4 at 8pm.

However this ‘Tigh Cóilí Presents...’ show, will not just feature one Trad titan, but three. Joining Máirtín on the night will be the brilliant fiddle player Cathal Hayden and guitarist/vocalist/songwriter/producer Seamie O’Dowd.

Late last year, the three men joined forces to record the album Crossroads and much of the music from that album will be played at the Town Hall show.

Crossroads is strong, lively, and engaging, showcasing the individual talents of the trio to good effect. The stand out tracks are Máirtín’s stirring ‘Dance Of Life’ and some very nimble banjo picking by Cathal on ‘The Liverpool Hornpipe’. Seamie also delivers a fine vocal performance on Thom Moore’s ‘Cedars Of Lebanon’.

Support on the night comes from Bohermore based folk singer-songwriter Don Stiffe. For tickets contact the Town Hall on 091 - 569777.
