Taking place on Saturday, 26 January at the Connaught Hotel from 11:00 to 14:00, this one stop shop career event gives you the opportunity to engage with career consultants and educational providers.

The main speaker will be Peter Cosgrove – Futurist, Skills & Talent Expert and Author. He is a regular contributor on national media on areas of talent and future of work.

Peter’s talk will be followed by a Panel Discussion with representatives from local Recruitment Agencies. They will discuss and take questions on employment opportunities in the West of Ireland. Their focus will be on employability, job categories and specific skill sets that employers are seeking.

One-to-one Career Consultations will be available from trained Career Consultants. These sessions, which are free of charge, will be provided on the day on a first come first served basis, they cannot be booked in advance.

“The event which is organized by the Regional Skills Forum (RSF ) in collaboration with higher education providers in the region is a significant event in ensuring a close partnership between academia and industry”, explains Mark Gantly, Chair of the RSF. “The workplace of the future will require a diverse set of skills, many of which will require on-the-job learning and ongoing training and education”, highlights Nuala McGuinn, NUI Galway. This partnership model of education and co-design of curriculum marks the shape of how work-based learning will influence how education and training is delivered into the future.

‘Whatever your chosen career, you can be sure that it will continuously evolve and develop. To prepare for this new reality, the person who will thrive will be the one who understands the need to be reactive to this and be open to continuous learning and development throughout their lifelong career. Engage’19 will provide the opportunity to reflect on this with one- to -one career guidance as well as identifying key opportunities in the region’, advises Bridie Killoran, Head of the Careers Service GMIT.
