Galway graphic artist selected for prestigious New York fellowship

Leon Butler also nominated for an Irish Design Award

GALWAY GRAPHIC artist and designer, Leon Butler, has been selected for a prestigious New York Fellowship by Design Incubation – an organisation for educators and practitioners of communication design to further design research and practice.

The Fellowship Programme at Design Incubation was introduced to facilitate and develop academic writing and investigate publishing opportunities. Design Incubation seeks to foster collaboration, promote development, encourage discourse, cultivate theoretical frameworks, challenge notions, offer criticism, and review processes within the design community.

Leon, who works as a lecturer at Technological University Dublin and runs his own practice, Bold Visual Narrative, has also been nominated for an Irish Design Award in the Intrinsic Design and Design Education & Research category for his practice and research work in typographic design.

This is the 20th year of the IDI Irish Design Awards. The IDI Irish Design Awards recognise outstanding achievement across the design spectrum in Ireland, uncover emerging talent, and focus a spotlight on the importance of Irish design in a national and global context.
