Comedy magical mystery tours for the comedy festival

A mystery tour in Connemara, a comedy pub crawl in the city

"IT IS only through mystery and madness that the soul is revealed," declared the Irish poet and singer-songwriter, Thomas Moore, so dare we suggest, he might have been first in the queue to embark on The Wild Atlantic Wahey Mystery Tour?

Last year the Vodafone Comedy Carnival took an out of town mystery tour where comedy fans hopped on a bus with no idea where they were going or who they would see. It was a huge success, and this year, The Wild Atlantic Wahey Mystery Tour returns with two comedy themed tours of Connemara on Saturday October 27 and Sunday 28.

So what happens? One hundred souls will be bussed to various venues along the Wild Atlantic Way for pints and performances by top festival comedians. Each bus has an MC to keep the show rolling, and the bus returns to Galway at the end of the tour.

'While the line-up is a mystery, given the calibre of acts taking part at the festival, you will be treated to great comedy'

Maintaining that sense of mystery but keeping it in Galway city, will be the Comedy Club Crawl - a comedy club combined with a pub crawl. To take part, purchase a ticket, find out where to go first, have a drink, see a top comedian, then you head to the next venue, do the same thing, and repeat for the third venue - Three venues, three drinks, three comedians, and an MC. While the line-up is a mystery, given the calibre of acts taking part at the festival, you will be treated to great comedy.

The Wild Atlantic Wahey Mystery Tour leaves from the festival box office, Eyre Square, on Saturday October 27 and Sunday 28 at 12 noon and takes about four hours. The Comedy Club Crawl is in a mystery location at 8pm on Friday 26, Saturday 27, and Sunday 28. For information and tickets go to vodafonecomedycarnival.com or OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street.
