THE STUNNING play a late night DJ set in the city next Sunday night to raise funds for a project to bring talented young soccer players from Gaza to Ireland.

Following The Stunning's Galway International Arts Festival concert at the Big Top on Sunday July 22, the band will be in Massimo for the aftershow party, starting at 11pm, where they, and DJ Foz, will play an indie disco DJ set. Proceeds will go towards Gaza Action Ireland, which is bringing children from the Gaza based Al-Helal Football Academy to Ireland.

Al-Helal captured the hearts of many Galway people when they visited Kinvara over the past two summers. They also met Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D Higgins, when they attended a game between Galway United and Dundalk FC at Eamonn Deacy Park in 2016 [the boys from the Al-Helal academy are pictued below with the Galway United mascot in this photography by Sean Ryan].

“The blatant ethnic cleansing of a nation is happening before our eyes and the silence of the world is a disgrace," says Stunning lead singer Steve Wall, who is a passionate supporter of Palestinian human rights. "So I try to do whatever I can to keep their plight visible and to highlight what’s going on, even if it means just letting my friends know on social media that a local supermarket is selling Israeli potatoes. The international boycott of South African goods had a huge effect on the ending of apartheid, but it seems harder to get the world to react to the destruction of Palestine.”

The suggested donation is €10 on the door. See Gazaactionireland.ie
