The Dublin Gospel Choir perform at SET

Carlow First, February 05, 2010.

The Dublin Gospel Choir’s new album Doing Their Thing is packed full of true gospel classics. The Dublin Gospel Choir can boast of being the first gospel act to break the Irish Top 30 album charts.

Not too many Irish acts, let alone international ones, can boast of sharing the stage with music industry heavyweights such as Rod Stewart, John Legend, Damien Rice, and The Chieftains. But that is exactly what the Dublin Gospel Choir have achieved over the last few years.

The choir have become a household name since they formed 13 years ago playing gigs from concerts, to corporate events and to festivals such as the Electric Picnic at which they play main stage again in 2010. They also performed to a sell-out crowd of 82,000 at Croke Park in 2008.

They featured alongside Chris de Burgh on a special New Year’s Day BBC Songs of Praise programme, which was broadcast to more than 35 million viewers worldwide. Their wide ranging audience proves that the Dublin Gospel Choir most definitely take the meaning of ‘choir’ to a whole new level.

They were also invited by Rod Stewart to join him for two great nights at the RDS and they return to that venue in their own right in February 2010 having been invited to perform at Ireland’s televised Meteor Music Awards.

Dublin Gospel Choir play Set Theatre Saturday February 20, 2010. Tickets are €18 and on sale now from Rollercoaster Records and Langtons Hotel, John Street. Doors: 8pm.
