The gym at AIT Sport is now offering pilates courses with their qualified and experienced pilates instructor, with the next round of classes beginning on November 1.
Pilates is a great option for anyone who wants to improve their posture, core strength, mobility, and flexibility. It encourages correct breathing and connecting to the core. This is also good for relaxing the mind and relieving stress and tension. It teaches you to concentrate, block out all other thoughts, and focus fully on each movement, bringing mind and body together.
“Pilates is a form of exercise which people do not automatically think of when it comes to starting a new training programme, but it is a course which is gaining in popularity here because it has a variety of different health benefits,” explained Orla Breatnach, pilates instructor at AIT Sport.
“One of the best things about this exercise method is that it suits a wide range of people. It is the perfect activity for those who want to develop their core strength and improve their flexibility. Pilates helps to reshape the body so that it becomes longer, stronger and leaner.”
Classes are available for both beginners and for those with experience of pilates. Classes cost €50 for a six week programme for gym members and €75 for non-gym members.
