The new 2017 Mazda CX-5 has been rated as one of the safest family cars drivers can buy.
Euro NCAP, the independent organisation that assesses the safety of new cars in Europe, has awarded the all-new Mazda CX-5 a maximum safety rating of five stars.
The verdict was delivered following rigorous crash testing and evaluation of sophisticated driver assistance systems that are standard equipment on the new model. On sale now across Europe, the all-new Mazda CX-5 achieved outstanding scores for the protection of adults, children and pedestrians.
Meanwhile, Mazda exhibited its full European model range at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show. Highlights from the Japanese carmaker again included the all-new Mazda CX-5, which is available with the latest version of the SkyActiv-G 2.5.
Mazda says that it now offers the powerful high-compression petrol engine with a new cylinder deactivation system. It works by controlling valve movement to seamlessly shut down two of the engine’s four cylinders under light load conditions (constant speed cruising ), reducing pumping losses and significantly improving fuel economy.
