Buccs women face Castlebar in cup final

Buccaneers Women face Castlebar in the final of the Connacht Invational Cup at Dubarry Park on Sunday afternoon, with the decider kicking off at 1pm.

This ten-a-side format has proven popular in giving womens' teams an early season tournament to get squads up and running.

Buccs availed of the opportunity by giving a number of new players their first taste of team rugby in their wins over Ballinasloe and Galwegians.

Shannon Hennessy has hit an early streak of tries, and Susan Earner, Sabina Egan and Niamh Gough are other lively operators in this Pirates crew, skippered by Lorna Stuart-Trainor.

Tracey Finnerty, Sarah Kelly and Antoinette Kemmy are others who are prepared to roll up their collective sleeves in aid of Buccs' cause.

Castlebar will be favourites for the final but, on their home patch, Buccaneers can be counted on to put it up to the Mayo girls in what should be a competitive and finely balanced final.
