Deadline approaches for inclusion on Register of Electors

Westmeath County Council is urging those who are eligible to vote to ensure they are included on the draft Register of Electors before November 25.

A new Register of Electors is compiled each year and the draft of this published on November 1, and members of the public have until November 25 to ensure their name is included. You can be included on the draft register by completing Form RFA and returning it to Westmeath County Council. You can also register online at www.westmeathcoco.ie

The public are also invited to check the Draft Register to make sure they are correctly registered. The Draft Register can be inspected during working hours at the offices of the county council or the county registrar and at public libraries, post offices, and Garda stations.

You have until November 25 to make a correction or have your name included on the Register. The Live Register of Electors is then published on February 1 the following year and comes into force on February 15.

In order to be able to vote at an election or referendum, a person’s name must be entered on the register of electors for the locality in which the elector ordinarily resides.

Please note it is your responsibility to ensure that you are registered.
