Dean Crowe gets dramatic cool look set ahead of RTÉ All Ireland Drama finals

The Dean Crowe Theatre has undergone a dramatic change of colour to a cool grey as it prepares to host the RTÉ All Ireland Drama Finals starting on Thursday May 1.

With almost all nine nights of the festival sold out, the festival director Joe MacCarrick has indicated that festival 2014 will see lots of surprises unfold for drama enthusiasts across the country as Athlone gears up for the best of amateur drama next week.

Speaking at the launch of the 62nd All Ireland Drama Festival in the Abbey Theatre, the festival director commented on the rich and varied programme on offer at this year’s festival, with many new plays not seen before on the Athlone stage. Mr MacCarrick went on to say that with the expanded fringe programme, Athlone is poised to welcome the many visitors expected to the town between May 1-9. The festival director paid tribute to festival sponsors RTÉ for their professional input and partnership which has elevated amateur drama to an unprecedented level nationally.

Drama enthusiasts can now download a new festival app for both iPhone and android phones. Full details of festival plays and fringe programme will be available on the festival app and also on the festival website www.dramafestival.ie

Fringe events in this year’s festival will see more acts, more entertainment, and more surprises that ever before. Anyone interested in the festival not able to get tickets for the main event in the Dean Crowe Theatre should not despair. The fringe will see numerous plays, exhibitions, street theatre, and a festival club that will rival any fringe festival in the country.
