The Locke Restaurant celebrates first birthday

Set in a building with a beautiful history as a Presbyterian church, The Locke Restaurant on The Docks in Athlone is celebrating its first birthday and has become a true local favourite.

The former home of the much-loved Le Chateau Restaurant, a busy and successful restaurant for many years, the building has been lovingly restored to its former splendour. The core of The Locke Restaurant, set in the captivating and magnificent church which dates back to 1858, is the second level with its high church-beamed ceilings, warm atmospheric lighting, panelling, and rich carpet. The cosy snug bar located on the lower level has a dramatic feel about it. There are live piano and harp sessions every Saturday night in the bar area of the restaurant and all are welcome to come and enjoy it, even for a drink.

With award-winning head chef Niall Kavanagh and owners the O’Shea family, The Locke has ambitious plans for ongoing development. The Locke Restaurant is a true success story of the recession and has become a great dining addition in Athlone. The Locke serves fine Irish cuisine and uses local produce. It has an excellent early bird menu available six days a week with two courses starting from €19.50 between 5-7pm each day including Saturday. The Locke can also cater for large parties and groups and has set menus available.
