Mt Temple celebrate 80 years of Corpus Christi Church

Mass goers in Mt Temple and Baylin will be celebrating 80 years of Corpus Christi Church over June.

Next weekend will see a selection of celebrants and speakers visit the church to celebrate Mass. On Thursday June 7 Mass will be held at 7pm with the theme Body of Christ and the gift of faith. This Mass will be celebrated by Fr Simon Cadam with was the priest at Mt Temple from 1987 - 2000. The children’s choir of Baylin NS will help in the celebrations.

On Friday June 8, Mass will be celebrated at 8pm by Fr Peter Burke of Drumshabo. The theme of the Mass is Body of Christ and the gift of hope and Mt Temple National School’s children’s choir will help with the celebrations.

Bishop Colm O’Reilly will be celebrating 8pm Mass on Saturday June 9, the theme of which is Body of Christ and the gift of love, while on Sunday morning Mass at 11am on June 10, GAA commentator Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh will speak after the Gospel.

Corpus Christi Church in Mt Temple was built in 1932, when the Eucharistic Conference was last held in Ireland. And on June 16 there will be a Corpus Christi procession from the church.

The celebrations in the village have been organised Fr Pat Kiernan and the paschal council of Mt Temple and Baylin.
